[message]Disc golf rules explained simply
Main Elements of Disc Golf:
- Tee Pads
- Information Board
- Disc
- Basket
Possible Obstacles – OB (Out-of-Bounds Line), Mando Obstacles, Hazard Zone
Objective of the Game:
Disc golf, similar to traditional golf, involves progressing towards a target. While in golf, players use a club to hit a ball into a hole, in disc golf, a flying disc is thrown by hand towards a specialized disc catcher.
The winner is the player who completes all the holes with the fewest throws and lands in all the disc catchers.
Gameplay of Disc Golf:
- Disc golf is typically played in groups of 3–5 players.
- The game begins with each player taking their first throw from the tee pad.
- At the moment of throwing, only the player making the throw stands on the tee pad; all others remain behind.
- The next throw is made by the player whose disc is furthest from the basket, regardless of their turn order.
- A throw is made with one supporting foot placed where the player's disc landed. Steps can only be taken to the side or backward!
- It is important for each player to track the number of throws made.
- Once all players have completed a hole by landing their disc in the catcher, each player's result is recorded.
- Don't forget to add any penalty points earned.
- The next group of players may only start the hole once the previous players have cleared the area.
- The next hole is started by the player with the best result from the previous hole.
Obstacles and Penalty Points:
- OB (Out-of-Bounds Line and Zone): Throwing a disc out of bounds results in 1 penalty point. The next throw is taken from the spot where the disc crossed the OB line.
- Mando (Mandatory): A mandatory obstacle must be bypassed on the indicated side. If the disc misses the mandatory obstacle on the wrong side, the player receives 1 penalty point. The next throw is taken from the drop zone marked on the map.
- Drop Zone: A designated starting zone used if the mandatory obstacle is bypassed incorrectly.
- Hazard Zone: Throwing a disc into a hazard zone results in 1 penalty point. The next throw is made from the exact spot where the disc landed.
